Announcements: President Danny had several announcements including -
Danny has some speakers lined up from Scarborough Health Network (SHN), but we require more speakers. So, if you know any speakers anywhere in the world, let Al Meredith know so that they can be booked in. - Danny plans to invite other Rotary clubs when SHN's CEO addresses our club.
A fundraising committee has been formed consisting of President Danny, Dave Seemungal, and Suresh. -
VP Courtney is still looking for members for the membership committee -
February 23rd is the District Gala.
-Our club was able to react quickly when a wheelchair was donated to us. Arthur contacted Agincourt Community Services and found a person in need of the donated chair. -
President Danny will be sending out information regarding a Climate Change Meeting to be hosted by the Rotary Club of Vaughan.
Basil brought to the club's attention that the district had a virtual meeting to discuss providing clean water to Haiti.
Sgt-at-Arms Gerd started off with a joke. No badger and horse in a bar, but Gerd told the story of a dung beetle who walked into a pub, motioned towards the bar, and asked: "Is this stool taken?"
After the groans died down, Gerd asked for physical Happy Bucks, once again for the first time in two years!

Arthur also shared news of a discovery of spinal implants that can restore a paralyzed person's use of his or her legs.

Dave Hardy donated $20 because it's been too long since we've had our regular luncheon meeting.
President Danny and VP Courtney each donated $10 for the good turnout at our first in-person luncheon meeting in much too long a time.
Rocco tossed in $20 for his birthday. Happy Birthday, Rocco!
Mike who was on Zoom commented on the audio with so many talking at the same time. We will change the table setup and Owl location next week to see if this can be improved. Danny misses the mute button on Zoom.
Program: President Danny's Update!
President Danny has done an excellent job putting together today's meeting but explained all that was involved, and the need for the full club to get involved with the organization of these meetings in the future.
Firstly, President Danny discussed the food ordering system, stating that he needs people to be assigned to enter the food orders every week onto an Excel spreadsheet that is automatically updated on the caterer's copy.
Barry suggested that club members be provided with the spreadsheet link and could order their own meals as opposed to having to set up a separate task for meal ordering. President Danny agreed to try this suggestion to see how it works.
Secondly, President Danny suggested that two PODs be involved every month in the additional tasks involved in in-person meetings. Rocco suggested that one POD a month was handling these tasks before the pandemic and could do so again, with the assistance of the Club Service Committee. Thirdly, President Danny indicated that all members should be on the lookout for restaurants that could host our luncheon meetings, but that we should be aware that he's being advised by restaurants that having a special menu for our club is probably not going to happen, and we would have to order from the restaurant's regular menu. Finally, President Danny explained that at the end of the meeting, everyone should simply toss their boxed lunch remnants into the bin in the room, and the building staff would take care of emptying it. The meeting was then terminated by President Danny who wished everyone a great week ahead and the work in process shall continue next week, which will now be a regular meeting.
