Candidate for Mayor, Karen Stintz, being thanked by President Maddy for her presentation

Announcements:    
+Gordon Brown announced that there will be a Group 1 meeting on Monday August 11 at his house.
 +President Madhavi reminded us of the backyard BBQ on Saturday August 9 at her house. Please advise Madhavi of your attendance.

Marbelous Draw:    Conducted by Frank Allison, drawn by Ralph, and won by Frank. The resulting $5 was subsequently contributed because Frank was happy.

Sergeant At Arms:  
 Gordon Brown solicited happy bucks from David Seemungal (happy because his mom is here for a short visit); Arthur Retnakaran ( his son had a paper published in “The Lancet”); Roland List (happy to have recently experienced the great food in Switzerland); and Ralph, happy to be back visiting North Scarborough.

Elana Metter, campaign assistant to mayorial candidate Karen Stintz, introduced Councillor Stintz, a councillor with 11 years on council, and past chair of our TTC.

Councillor Stintz stated:
·    A need for Toronto to have strong community partners such as Rotary;
·    She enjoyed the Scarborough Rotary Club’s ribfest;
·    She has today announced her economic policy, including:
·    Addressing congestion in traffic and improving traffic;
·    Creating opportunities for investment in communities;
·    Creating an environment which encourages job creation by keeping taxes low and improving transportation;
·    Making the city more focused on small business;
·    Create the position of Development Coordinator to encourage development and assist new Canadians to have credentials recognized; 

Following her presentation Ms. Stintz asked for questions and a number of members  made comments or observations that are included on the recording.

Karen was thanked by President Madhavi.
