Rotary District 7070
Bulletin April 5, 2023
Anthem: Gordon Brown
Toast to the King, Canada & Rotary: President Courtney Fisher
Indigenous Land Acknowledgment: President Courtney
Attendance 15, including guests from the Scarborough Passport Club, Raffy Chouljian, and Sonya from the Scarborough Club.
Dhanni Ramdeen introduced our guest speakers today, Steve Rutledge and Janet Thorsteinson, both of the Whitby Sunrise Club.
Janet has recently taken over from Steve. She took us on a trip first to the Dominican Republic (DR) and then to Laos. Their photos followed their visits and the work to prepare the kits of reusable feminine hygiene products. These were bagged and distributed to the teenage children in both locations. But first, the cloth had to be cut out in different shapes by volunteers here in Canada and then transported to where they were needed. Finally, we saw the sewing machines at work in the targeted countries and the orderly distribution of the kits to the young girls experiencing menstrual needs. Steve and Janet thanked the club for participating in this initiative and presented us with a "Thank You Banner."
Attached is the voice and video recording of the meeting.
Danny Cassidy presented a banner to President Courtney sent to us by The Rotary Club of Warszawa Fryderyk Chopin, Poland, The "Host Sponsor" in a successful Global Grant application, where The  Rotary Club of North Scarborough, Canada is the "International Sponsor."
Avrum did the rounds and asked for happy bucks, which Arthur and Peter offered up.
President Courtney ended the meeting.
The thing that’s depressing about tennis is no matter how good you get, you'll never be as good as a wall.
