Announcements:         Dhanni Ramdeen announced that the International Service Group will hold their meeting on April 27 immediately after our Rotary Lunch; this will be hosted by non other that President Gerd.
                                    David Hardy announced that our club has agreed to sponsor the Scarborough Entrepreneurs Expo organized by the Toronto Board of Trade on May 3rd from 1:30 to 6:30 P.M. at Centennial College, Students Centre, 941 Progress Avenue.
                                    Gordon Brown announced that the Club Service Group will be holding their meeting on Thursday April 14th at 6:30 PM at the Coach House Pub, 3 Felcher Blvd, Ballantrae. All members and significant others are invited, but please let Gordon know if you’re coming.
President Gerd announced the club Fireside on Friday April 22 at 6:00 PM at the Highland Yacht Club in Bluffers Park. All members and significant others are invited, but please accept/decline to Gord so that the required amount of food can be provided.
Peter Masson announced the park clean-up at Milliken Park (McCowan & Steelse) on Saturday April 23 at noon. Please let Arthur Retnakaran know regarding attendance.
Basil announced the Rotary District Assembly on Saturday May 14 at the BMO Institute for Learning from 8:00 Am to 2:00 PM. Registration is required.  
President Gerd announced that a cheque for $2,000 had been presented to Hope Air on behalf of the club. President Gerd flew a lady and her daughter from Sudbury to Billy Bishop Airport so that the daughter could get to Sick Kids for heart surgery.
                                   
 
 
Marbelous Draw:        Conducted by Mike Mushet, drawn by our guest speaker Margaret and won by Peter Masson. The mutant marble eluded Peter, who had to settle for $5.00.
 
Sergeant at Arms:       Frank Allison extracted a loonie from anyone who had escaped down south on vacation. In the confusion with Frank’s accent, staycationers also contributed.
                                    Frank was happy to have enjoyed a wonderful vacation in Cancun with a famous President-Elect. Dave Hardy was happy to have had to sign for his supper, David Seemungal was sad that his mom is leaving to return to Trinidad, and Saifoo Lau was happy to have been able to make the meeting. Peter Masson enjoyed the Scarborough Rotary Club’s dinner meeting where the guest speakers were members who had just returned from Laos.
                                   
Maddy introduced our guest speaker, Margaret Wright, the Director of Operations with the Stephen Lewis Foundation. This foundation, started in 2003, focuses on HIV/AIDS in Africa
39 million people have died from AIDS;
37 million people are living with HIV;
2 million new infections occur every year;
15 million children have been orphaned in Africa because of AIDS.
