Toast to the Queen, Canada and Rotary: President Barry

Announcements:
  • President Barry held a moment of silence in memory of 9/11, which occurred on Wednesday September 11, 2001.

  • Arthur announced that there will be a Community Service, Vocational, New Generations and Fund Raising meeting next week following the regular non-regular meeting.

  •  David announced that the International Service Group had arranged a Shelter Box Donation because of Hurricane Dorian.

  •   President Barry announced that the food bank donation (which everyone except Peter, Danny and Arthur forgot about) will be repeated next week. Please remember to bring one or two non-perishable items for the Rosewood Food Bank.

  •    President Barry advised that he was accompanied by Dhanni and John Ramdeen on the Foundation Walk last Sunday. He also reminded us about the District Conference on October 24th in Muskoka.

Marbelous Draw:
Conducted by Frank, fixed by Frank, drawn by Avrum, and won by Frank. The mutant marble eluded Frank, who had to settle for the consolation prize of $5.00. Can you imagine that Frank put both halves of his tickets in the box to double his chances?

Sergeant at Arms:

Rocco collected fines and happy bucks from everyone who either forgot about the Food Bank donations, or were happy.

Arthur contributed for his joke about the rabbit, the fox, the wolf and the lion. You should have been there!

Dhanni was happy about the Foundation Walk and TIFF, as well as the redistribution of household chores.

Frank contributed big bucks to celebrate the birth of their great grand daughter Abigail Elizabeth Gregory at 6 lbs, 11 ozs, to Megan and John.

Was introduced by President Barry and thanked by Basil. Avrum gave a fantastic classification talk, and a recording of his presentation follows.
Avrum has known Barry and Basil for years through a business networking group. Since joining our club, he has become totally involved, taking part in the Rotary Auction, Habitat breakfast for the Women’s Build, park clean-up and gloves delivery.
Avrum, originally from Montreal (and a Canadians Fan) obtained a Business degree and an MBA from the Schulich School of Business at York. He has been married to Vicki for 35 years, and has a son Zachery and daughter Abbie.
Avrum enjoys mountain biking, golf, and an organization called “Dads and Kids” where chocolate and fund- raising is involved. He rides with a group every Thursday night all year long, through rain, snow or ice.
Avrum has been with Investors Group for 26 years, and proved to be very knowledgeable about financial and tax planning, investments, mortgages and insurance.

Did we mention that Basil thanked Avrum?

President Barry closed the meeting.
