Arthur reminded everyone of the park clean up Saturday Apr 22, to Meet at: Milliken Recreation Centre 4325 McCowan Road, Scarborough  (S/E of McCowan Rd and Steeles Ave E) at 10 AM; hot chocolate  and cookies will be provided.
Gordon Brown told us he is sending out an e-mail with the address and direction of how to get to the Fireside Friday Apr 21st.
Here are President Basil's announcements and reminders:
  1.  Remember that our annual Fireside will be on this  Friday April 21st  @ 6:30 pm;
This is our opportunity as a club to review the things we do and discuss the direction we would like our club to be heading. In fact this is where we get to give some guidance to our in-coming President Mike. So if you haven’t responded to Gordon’s invitation it would be appreciated if you would respond at this time.
  1. The park clean-up will be this Saturday April 22nd from 10:00 until noon at Milliken Park, which is located at the South-East corner of McCowan and Steeles
  2. As some of you may have heard, Jack Wylie is in Centenary Hospital undergoing rehab after his cardiac problems. Jack is in the Margaret Birch Wing at the South side of the hospital, in Room A 3305.
Lynn was also in hospital at Sunnybrook with serious eye problems, resulting in significant reduction in her vision. It appears that neither of them will be able to drive again, so we will need to look at how we can assist.
  1. The Bluffs Rotary Club is having a fund raiser to raise funds for their Paul Harris Scholarships. This will be at Herongate Barn Dinner Theatre on Thursday May 4th to see “Bedtime Stories”; the cost is $65 per ticket.
  2. The Willowdale Rotary Club is celebrating their 65th anniversary on Friday May 5th with a Gala Dinner. The guest speaker will be RI President –Elect Ian Riseley, and tickets are $125 each for this formal affair with cocktails, dinner, live band etc… A tax receipt will be available for a portion of the ticket price.
  3. Our Rotary District’s annual assembly will be on Saturday May 13th at the BMO IFL.
  4. We will again be taking part in the July 1st Citizenship Swearing in Ceremony at Albert Campbell Square. Last year we helped to organize a wonderful ceremony where we had over 100 guests. And it cost our club less than $50.
  5. We have received a thank-you card from the Scarborough Community Renewal Organization for the seed money we have contributed. For anyone who is interested, their annual membership is only $25. Their AGM will be held on Monday May 8th at Centennial College, in the 8th Floor Culinary Arts Room. Mayor John Tory will be in attendance, and we are all invited to attend. "THAT' S ALL FOLKS"
