Announcements:

Club Service meeting is scheduled for Monday, September 8th at 6:00 pm at the Coach House Pub.

The International Service meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, September 9th, at Remezzo Italian Bistro.

President Danny reminded us about the District 7070 Foundation Walk on October 28th at 9:00 am at North Johnson District Park, 7800 Islington Avenue, and the pledge sheet that has been circulated.

President Danny also reminded us about the District Conference on October 24th to 26th at Fern Resort in Orillia.

Our major fundraiser, the “Gala” on October 17th, requires everyone to get on board by selling tickets and planning to help. This project promises to be a great success if we all get involved.

Sergeant at Arms: Frank fined everyone who hadn’t finished their lunch, and then collected “Happy Bucks”. Suresh was fashionably late because he got stuck behind a bus; Saira was happy that her daughter had started high school; Joan Barrett was happy to be at our club, seeing old and new friends, including Rajendra.

Welcome | District 7070

Guest Speaker: Gordon introduced our guest speaker, Joan Barrett, District Membership Chair, Past President of the Scarborough Club, Assistant Governor for 4 Rotary clubs and 2 Rotaract clubs. She is also a coordinator for the Area of Focus Committee. Joan has worked in the field of education for many years, first as a teacher and then as a literacy consultant.

Joan presented a fantastic prescription for membership growth and retention, offering great insight into how we can increase our membership while retaining existing members. By increasing our impact in the community, we can demonstrate to potential members the work we do as Rotarians, both within our community and around the world.

Encouraging active participation, ensuring member satisfaction, and improving our club culture are key to growth and retention.

Areas which could be reviewed include financial barriers such as high dues, different types of membership, meeting frequency, and diversity.

Joan was thanked by Arthur

With nothing more for the good of Rotary, President Danny closed the meeting.
