Heavy fines ($10) were given out to those who did not sign up to volunteer at the TV Auction this weekend.
Happy Bucks from:
  • President Gerd found $10 and gladly give it up in the spirit that his second vehicle arrives December 19th in the colour he always wanted – British racing green.
  • Kevin Manuel  is happy that TV Auction is here this weekend.
  • Arthur – Happy to go to the theatre to see a Christmas play.
 
President Gerd introduced our speaker of the day …. Kevin Manuel on TV Auction
 
 
 
Kevin is looking forward to the TV Auction this weekend and said everything is ready to. The time is broken down as 19 hours on air; 6 hours set up and 8 hours clean up time.
He thanked all the members who brought in items and volunteered.
He relayed some statistics on the overall Auction as follows:
2013 – Total 817 items value $162K . Our club brought in 167 items valued $28K which netted us $16K.
2014 – Total 985 items value $175K . Our club brought in 171 items valued $35K which netted us $20K.
2015 – Total 958 items value $175K . Our club brought in 188 items valued $31K with an approximate net value of $18K.
 
The TV Auction location is East York Civic Centre – 850 Coxwell Avenue, NW corner of Coxwell & Mortimer.
 
This year the Auction is also streamed live on Rogers U-tube which may attract a much wider audience and where bidding online is not permitted.
 
 
Anchor desk volunteers need to report in one hour before air time. Everyone else 30 mins. before time scheduled. When you arrive, please check in with the security desk to get your name badge.
 
The task/job description is same as last year.
 
The cafeteria will be open and there are several chefs who will provide food services.
 
Parking is free. However, DO NOT park in the meter parking area without a paid ticket as you will get a hefty parking ticket.
 
Volunteers for the phone are still needed for the Saturday evening/night.
 
Next year, a six club, Toronto Skyline RC, is invited to join this Auction.
 
President Gerd thanked Kevin for his endless dedication and hard work and said “without  Kevin, the TV Auction will simply not going to happened”.
 
At Basil Dias prompt, President Gerd put a vote to the attended members on 2017 President and Secretary of the club. The vote was unanimous for Basil Dias as President and Dave Hardy as Secretary. Congratulations Gentlemen!!
