Announcements: 
David Seemungal – Read a letter on Rotary Foundation giving.
Dhanni Ramdeem – International Services Group meeting next Wednesday, November 25th, at the Baton Rouge Restaurant after the regular luncheon meeting.
Kevin Manual – Appealing for volunteers to sign up for the TV Auction and distribution of the TV Auction signage.
 
President Gerd called upon Dave Hardy, member of Community Services to present a check to David Lockhart from PACT in the amount of $2500.  David thanked our club for continued support to the project. Basil Dias indicated that PACT started as an Urban Peace initiative when Ralph Jones was District Governor.
 
President Gerd commented on the terrible terrorist attack in Paris and strongly urges that the Muslim leaders need to come forward and take an active role in the communities to condemn such acts.

Frank Allison won the consolation prize of $5 which he quickly relinquished in the spirit of not having Alan Meredith leading the singing of the Anthem again.

  • Now that Gerd’s dog is “fixed”, their lives are severely disrupted.

  • Ralph Jones commented that the Rotary club of Alliston has more female members than male. In fact, 6 of the last 7 presidents were women.
 
Basil Dias introduced the speaker Ian Brown, Economic Development Officer of the City of Toronto. Ian, an MBA graduate has been with the city of Toronto for the last 8 years and has been very helpful in the urban renewal campaign. Did you know Ian and John Tory, mayor of Toronto, went to the same high school?

Frank Allison thanked Ian for the great job he is doing. Frank said that he has been in Canada for 50 years and although he did not live in Scarborough, he has been actively been doing business in Scarborough and presented Ian Brown with a certificate from Operation Eyesight.
Ian responded that he is so proud of the work that Dave Hardy is doing in the Scarborough Renewal Campaign.
President Gerd thanked Jack Holman to personally arrange for the funds to be sent out to the Bahamas for the Eleuthera project. Thank you Jack and be sure to get your money back from the club.
