Speaker. Gerd Wengler

We were supposed to have a speaker about travel insurance, but she could not attend, so Gerd stepped up to the plate and told us about his recent trip with Dorothy and their two dogs to Key West, Florida.
It was 2700km to Key West, so they planned on doing about 900km each day. He showed the route he took on his ‘timeline’ on Google Maps. Some of the highlights of the trip were visiting Nashville, where they visited the Johnny Cash Museum. In Memphis, they visited the Sun Recording Studio, where rock and roll artists such as Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee-Lewis, and Carl Perkins recorded. In this studio, what many consider to be the first rock and roll record, ‘Rocket 88’ was recorded in March 1951. Gerd said he didn’t see any electric cars at all in some states. He also noted that there could be a lot of differences in the roads, houses, etc., once you cross state lines. Altogether, their trip took 9 days, and they ‘magically’ arrived at The Coachman pub before going home.

Announcements:
  • Gordon advised regarding the Warm Hands - Basil has called Bargains Group and ordered the mitts, hats etc., same quantity as in 2023, and same cost, with tax, $1,970.
He will arrange to pick them up when they are ready on Feb. 5th. Then, we will need to collect.
Arthur's stuff, assemble a team to sort and a team to deliver to the schools.

Sergeant-at-Arms.

As there were only eight of us, there were no fines, and no one had any Happy Bucks.

President Gordon closed the meeting with a quote from Mother Teresa: “Not all of us can do great things. But we can do small things with great love.”
