Announcements:
  • Barry Smith announced that Agincourt Rotary Club is having a ‘Light Up Rotary’ benefit concert on April 11, 2015. If interested please contact Barry.
  • Gerd reminded us of ‘Jacob’s’ Scarborough Philharmonic Concert on May 2nd.
  • Gerd also passed on a message from President Maddy that Mike Cooksey suggests all Scarborough Clubs cancel their meetings during the week of the Mayor’s address on April 21st which all members are encouraged to attend – this will be discussed at the upcoming Board Meeting.
  • There is a Directors’ meeting on Monday March 30th at David Seemungal’s
Marbelous Draw was conducted by Mike Muchet. Barry Smith drew the winning ticket with Arthur having the lucky ticket, unfortunately he couldn’t find the mutant marble, but was given $5 as a consolation.

Sergeant –At-Arms today was Rocco. He just asked for Happy Bucks. Barry was happy that he and Glennys had a great vacation in Bermuda – even though there was a delay in his flight, but because of the airline’s error they ended up flying First Class the next day. Gordon contributed as he and Susan had spent the past week (March Break) in Myrtle Beach. Arthur gave back his $5 winnings – tomorrow will be the anniversary of his wife’s passing and he told us that all the support he got from Rotary members helped a lot. Roland gave some bucks as he was happy he had just finished building a machine that makes hailstones and he will be sending it to China to be tested in a wind tunnel he had also built (if you want to know any more about this please contact Roland!). Roland was also happy that he was going to be attending a reunion of some fellow scientists.

Speaker:  We had no speaker scheduled for today, so Gerd told us that he attended the dinner last night in Richmond Hill where the R.I. President Gary Huang was speaking. Gerd was expecting a very ‘commanding’ speaker; instead he said that he was the complete opposite - a very ‘humble’ person. While he was speaking though, Gerd said “you could have heard a pin drop”.
Gerd and Arthur also entertained us with some jokes which we cannot publish! So no recording is attached today.

There being no further business Vice-President Gerd closed the meeting.
