Announcements:

  • Basil Dias – Jack Holman was involved in a motor vehicle accident. He suffered a broken shoulder and will be out of commission for a while. He will Fedex the cheque book to Doug Strype to take care of the cheque disbursements. We wish you speedy recovery Jack and you will be missed. Please note: Sergeant at Arms – While Jack is recovering, the SAA will require to arrive early to set up the meeting.
  • Basil Dias – The hotel management has change hands again which may impact our meeting location from time to time.
  • Kevin Manuel on TV Auctions:
    • clocked in almost 1000 items, an all-time high, with an estimated retail value of $172K. Our club’s contribution was about the same as last year.
    • This Saturday is inventory day, they still need volunteers and it starts at 10:00 am.
    • if you have not informed Kevin on the times you will volunteer at the TV auction, please do so ASAP
    • If you have any issues related to items such as minimum bids, limitations, options, he need to know ASAP.
    • Lawn signs are available to distribute.
  • Dhanni Ramdeen – The next group 4 meeting is next Wednesday, Nov 19th at the Delta Toronto East Hotel after the regular luncheon meeting.

Gerd, Barry and Mike were awarded the consolation prize of $5 which Barry held in trust for a brief moment.

Barry gave out fines (which he paid from the temporary trust fund) to members whom were absent from the luncheon.

Happy Bucks from:

  • Gerd on taking his Land Rover on a test ride in 2 feet deep water. The picture was amazing.
  • Basil “said” he is cooking for Dorothy’s family of over 20 people.
  • Dhanni celebrated another birthday. The guys sang “happy birthday”
  • Kevin was happy that the TV Auction hit the $100K mark.

Program

Mike Mushet introduced the guest speaker from “Free the Children” organization, Kevin Brouer. It you can recall, Mike was the one who brought this project to the club. Thanks Mike. Kevin Brouer hails from Manitoba and is a music major. One his long term goal is to do a bike tour in Europe. Kevin job is to connect and support clubs in Toronto with the hope of getting rid of poverty
