Announcements:
  • Jacqueline Smith reminded us that the club will be co-hosting the Citizenship Ceremony at Scarborough Civic Centre on Saturday, 1 July where she will be the Speaker addressing the newly minted citizens. Volunteers are needed to represent Rotary.
  • She also reported on her attendance at the meeting of the Home Hospitality Committee fore the joint Scarborough Clubs. Possibility that it will be at the Guild Inn at a cost of approx. $2,000 to each club. Basil suggested that we utilise our potential share of the Scarborough Rib-fest gate donations for this purpose. Jacqueline will keep us updated.
  • President Basil reported that Gord Coyle's family has contacted us about donating Gord's wheelchair enabled van to the club. Peter M. will be meeting with the family to inspect the van and will give us a report. The club is open to suggestions for utilising this gift.
  • There will be a celebration of Al Mc Dougal's life at Scarborough Golf Club on August 3, 2017 from 2 to 4pm.
 Marbelous Draw: Dhanni R. conducted the draw which was claimed by President Basil. He was not able find the mutant marble, but got $5 as a consolation.

We sang Happy Birthday to Jacqueline, who celebrated another year of her perpetual youth with a Surprise Birthday Party set up by Steve and her brother.
Frank A. Celebrated another Wedding Anniversary.
Peter M. celebrated the wresting of the America's Cup from the USA, by a bunch of Kiwis in a boat!
President Basil, decked out in dual purpose red celebrating Canada Day and TFC's victory in  the final of the Canadian Championship against Montreal Impact.
 
        
The Main Event: President Basil presented a Paul Harris Fellow to Allan Meredith for his years of championing the TV Auction for our club. He then handed over to Incoming President Mike who thanked Basil for year as President, presented him with a beautiful commemorative clock and invited comments from the members present. There were many comments from most of the members present about Basil's legendary knowledge and dedication to Rotary and also about the great friendships he has given us over the many years we have known him.

Incoming President Mike concluding comments were that he intends to be a man of few words during his term. As such, in  order to encourage the membership to be more talkative, he has invited us all to share wine and beer at his first meeting of his new term on Wednesday July 5, 2017 at the usual time
 
There being no further business soon to be President Mike closed the meeting.
