Basil Dias – There will be a Goodwill “Donation Drive” on June 24th, organized by Jacklyn Smith. Please start collecting items such as gently used clothing, small household items, (no furniture) books, CDs, DVDs, Posters, etc...
 
Basil Dias – As part of the Arts & Cultural component of the Scarborough Renewal Campaign, there will be a “Dinner and a Song” event at the Olde Stone Cottage on June 21st. 
Basil Dias – We were informed by the Delta Toronto East hotel, effective July 1st, the luncheon cost will be increased to $30, plus HST and gratuity with a minimum of 15 attendees. Parking for the first 2 hours is included, thereafter parking is $4/hr. The contract will be on a month-to-month basis. The Board was advised and a decision will be made soon. The members will be informed accordingly.
David Hardy – Dave met with UTSC and they agreed to sponsor the Renewal Campaign conference on Oct. 15th.
Peter Masson – The Ribfest 2015 will be on Friday June 27th to Sunday June 28th at the Markham Civic Centre. Please speak with Rocco to book the time you will be volunteering.
Jack Holman – Congratulated Peter Masson on receiving his third Paul Harris pin at the annual PH Scholarship event last week.
Dhanni Ramdeen – The International Services group meeting will be next Wednesday, June 17th at the Delta Toronto Hotel right after the regular weekly meeting.
 
 
Dhanni read out an impressive beautifully framed “Thank You” letter from Bridge to Health expressing their gratitude for our contributions to their work on the Maternal Health clinics in Uganda. This was a District Grant project in 2013. (See below)

Basil Dias introduced the speaker Captain Ian Chen on his experience in the Canadian Armed Forces.
Ian joined the Canadian Armed Forces Reserve where he was active in the Logistic Division. From there he went overseas to Kandahar, Afghanistan in 2008. When he came back safely to Toronto, he completed his Executive MBA degree where he met Madhavi
Mike Mushet thanked our speaker for his service to our country and presented him with a certificate from Operation Eyesight.
 
 
Next Week: President Maddy Chandrasekaran will give us her "Swan Song" and the members will all be able to offer their analysis of her performance (otherwise known as a ROAST)
