Резултат слика за Nadia Heyd from StorefrontGuests: Only one guest today – Nadia Heyd from Storefront.
President Barry asked Rocco and Arthur to present Nadia with a cheque representing Storefront’s portion of proceeds from sale of items donated by Storefront to our Auction. Nadia thanked the club for the cheque and told us that it will be Storefront’s 20th anniversary this fall and they will most likely participate in the Auction again this year.

Announcements:

President Barry:
  • Saturday March 14th: In light of recent developments initiated by the Ontario government, together with recommendations of our health authorities, our board of directors held an emergency meeting today and have decided to cancel our next three regular Rotary luncheon meetings in line with the school and community services closures.
  • Advised that the date of this years Auction has been changed to December 5th.

Basil : Announced that there will be a memorial service for our past member Roy Loach.  It will be at 11.00am on Thursday March 12th at St. Johns York Mills Anglican Church in North York.
  • Several members let us know their memories of Roy. In general, these were how friendly he always was, great sense of humour, always made you feel welcome, for new members he was always a mentor. He was well known at the Sick Kids Hospital as the “Toy Doctor” taking broken toys and fixing them so the children could play with them again.

Marbelous Draw: Mike conducted the draw and asked our guest Nadia to draw the ticket which was claimed by Arthur (again!) but he couldn’t find the mutant marble – he was given $5 as a consolation.

Frank fined members who were not displaying their Rotary pin.

Happy bucks were then collected.

Dave Hardy was happy about his previous night book launch at which 60 people attended.

Arthur returned his $5 and then proceeded to tell a joke he saw Hugh Laurie tell on the Graham Norton show. If you want to what it was you will have to contact Arthur as it cannot be repeated here!

SaiFoo was happy that Rocco had helped him recover his email.

Basil told us he had called Al Meredith in Mexico to make sure he was still ‘virus free’ – Alan told Basil he was okay and taking full advantage of the ‘all inclusive’ at the resort.

Gerd was happy that ‘Stairway to Heaven’ by Led Zepplin had been declared not guilty of plagiarism, so he has now told Dorothy that she can play it at his funeral!

Our guest Nadia was happy that her oldest child just turned 21.

Peter was happy he was able to fill up on gas as the prices are low right now.

Barry had a sad buck as he and Glynnis had decided to cancel their trip to the RI Convention in Hawaii because of the Coronavirus.

There being no further business President Barry closed the meeting.
