Trudy introduced Trudy Emojong who talked to us about the problems facing girls who do not have access to sanitary napkins in poor areas of the world. She is a global youth leader
and has been a good friend of our member Trudy Tomusime since they met while attending university in Uganda. Our Trudy is proud of the work her friend has been doing with Afripads.
Over the past 10 years, AFRIpads has grown to become the world’s leading social enterprise dedicated to manufacturing reusable sanitary pads in Africa.
Trudy gave a really succinct and enlightening presentation and we encourage members to click on this link to hear her presentation.

Announcements:

Next week's meeting will be from our new meeting place at Aurora Crt. Danny will give a presentation on how to get there, where to park, and will give a short video walk through of the premises.

Danny will be buying the equipment required to run a hybrid meeting which will allow members and speakers to attend our live meetings on Zoom if necessary. Charitable donations should not be used for club business such as this. A couple of members have offered to contribute and anyone who would like to chip in is welcome to do so. More about this next week.

Danny will be asking members if they would like to record a "rotary minute" for you tube to help get our name out in the community to entice new members. More on this later.

Sergeant @ Arms  Basil asked for happy thoughts from those present.

Frank.  Thanked everyone for their calls and messages of condolence on the passing of his sister this week.

Beauty.  Thanked president Danny and his wife Ruth, who attended Dr. beauty's book launch and birthday celebration. She also thanked members Manny and Mandy who also attended and supported her.

Suresh. All of the grandchildren have received their first shot for COVID. He expects to be seeing a lot more of them in the future.

Tundi. Enjoyed the presentation today and was happy to be at the meeting.

Alan. Was happy to be on vacation in the sun but was not looking forward to the Liverpool Everton game later in the day. Being an Everton supporter he didn't fancy their chances.

Frank. Was happy that Alan was on vacation, which should take the sting out of getting beaten by Liverpool.

Gordon. Everyone is healthy and happy.

Courtney. Really enjoyed Trudy's presentation, which opened his eyes to this very serious problem. he also enjoyed the board meeting and dinner at Rocco's and his breakfast meeting with his drivers last week.

Dave. Had a visit from his 12 year old grand daughter and had a wonderful talk on what it means to be a christian. It made Dave happy.

Peter.  Was really impressed with Trudy's talk. Coming from a family of mostly males where topics like this were not usually discussed. He really enjoyed it.

Arthur.  Was also happy with Trudy's talk. He liked how she had put together a really succinct and information packed presentation. He is also happy that we are discussing this subject which in the past was not discussed openly.
His 12 year old grandson gave a presentation in school on COVID, using in part Arthur's own presentation to the club. He was surprised that at the end, when asked if the class thought that vaccine patents should be given free to the world, the class was split. Some saying they should for the greater good and others saying that the companies spend their money researching and should make a profit.

Dhanni. Was moved by Trudy's presentation from a woman's view. She also was happy that while she doesn't have her whole family at Christmas, she will have them all for Easter.

Mike. Was promised delivery of his plane this week but was told that the hanger it was in was snowed in. So instead of flying he will be going for groceries.

Rocco. Was happy to host the board meeting. Everyone had a lot of fun.

Gerd. Was happy that his mother is over for 3 weeks. He took her to the symphony and to see Gordon Lightfoot. At dinner before the show he told his friends one of Arthur's jokes which didn't exactly go down well.

Hans. His knee is getting better but he still is not allowed to drive because of the operation.

Trudy. Was really happy to have the opportunity to have her friend speak to the club. Knowing that the club does support this very necessary cause. Also she asked if anyone in the club had sent her husband aftershave and cologne. A parcel arrived but she doesn't know from whom :-)

Danny. Enjoyed the presentation today. he is happy that we are making progress on getting back to in person meetings.

President Danny wished everyone a good week ahead and closed the meeting.
