Then got a Divinity Masters Degree
Former pastor of church at Kennedy & Finch
He speaks many languages
During his lifetime so far he has visited about 69 foreign countries
He needed another challenge so he became a world missionary.
SUMMARY OF HIS PRESENTATION:
Tony gave us a very informative, spiritual and emotional speech.
He showed us a few clips from a video called POVERTY INC., which can be viewed on U-tube. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aqGQ1IRhdzg
Recording: https://www.dropbox.com/s/w464p8nbolzlwek/Rotary%20Tony%20Baker.mp3?dl=0
The key elements of his comments were as follows:
As he travelled the world, it was as a Christian but his main message was not to preach and convert people to Christianity.
It was to love everyone including friends, allies and even enemies.
Go to the world and teach people how to live and succeed in their own lives.
Inclusivity is the main factor.
Let’s help people to do many things for themselves to make their lives more fulfilling.
Help people live their lives in their own environment. Partner with people in poor countries so they can improve on their own. Don’t just “give” thing and then walk away.
Increase the spirit of independence rather than dependence.
The real moral to Tony’s speech was this:
-Give a hungry person a fish and he is OK for a day.
- Teach that person how to fish and he will never be hungry again.
THANKS:
Gord Brown thanked Tony and strongly encouraged him to return and visit us again and tell us more about his every interesting and inspiring experiences in less fortunate parts of the world.
