Introduction of speaker: President Danny introduced Gil Storey as the Assistant District Governor for District 7070.
Speaker, Gil Storey, Deputy District Governor, District 7070:
Gil provided an overview of his personal history with Rotary and his new role as Deputy District Governor. He referenced his roles as club president of the Agincourt club and brought attention to his club’s current projects, along with its efforts to increase its membership. He praised his club and the Rotary Club of North Scarborough (RCNS) for their collaboration on securing a van for transportation services in Ukraine. Gil felt that an increase in similar collaboration could go a long way to taking on new and necessary projects.
In his new role as Deputy District Governor, Gil referenced the support he has received from seasoned Rotarian, Susan Roper. He highlighted his plans to visit several clubs and mentioned that he was happy to be a guest at RCNS’ luncheon meeting. Gil pointed to the importance of getting to know each club’s needs for the upcoming fiscal year and announced that Assistant District Governors and the District Governor were setting up a WhatsApp group to facilitate more immediate communication. He spoke about emerging plans for a visit from the District Governor and commented briefly on the logistics involved. In closing, he shared a wonderful story about a goldfish.
