Basil  requests that we all chip in and help by logging on that website.
  • Basil Dias will be sending out a mass email on more details of the “Goodwill Donation Drive” in the coming week.
  • Gerd Wengler – A possible date is set for the annual President’s party on Saturday, August 22nd at his place in Milton. He will confirm the date soon.

Marbelous Draw: SAA David Seemungal

Basil Dias picked the consolation prize of $5 which he decided to use to pay for excess parking at the hotel.
Our SAA fined Gordon Brown for not wearing his well deserved Paul Harris Award pin that he received at this year’s Charter party. Of course, Gordon, a Financial Planner is “saving” it for future events.
Our outgoing President was also fined for her absence at the weekly luncheon meetings. And as penance she handed Jack Holman a cheque to obtain some sort of absolution. (See below)

Happy Bucks from:
  • Jim Boyko is happy to be back from his 2 weeks’ vacation. They had a great time in Ireland.
Our current Madame President, Maddy was present at the meeting. She introduced Gerd as our next President and thanked him for doing such a wonderful job running the weekly luncheon meetings during her absence due to work demands. She then presented him with the President’s pin.
The President’s roast began with Gerd presenting the Rotary Presidential gavel to Maddy and thanked her for her service.
Basil called upon the “roasters” one by one to express their comments.
  • Dave Hardy – Maddy is bubbly, too happy and always smiling.
  • Gordon – Maddy married a good chef.
  • David Seemungal – Maddy is a great person, glad to have her in the club.
  • Arthur – Not surprised about Maddy’s charm as they both came from Chennai.
  • Jim Boyko – Glad she joined Rotary as he was able to bid on one of her B.A. airline tickets to London that was donated to a past TV Auction.  A trip they thoroughly enjoyed.
  • Dhanni – Maddy is living Dhanni’s dream. She gets a prepared meal from her in-house world class chef almost every day.
  • Peter Masson – Maddy’s charm, her dog, her family are memorable.
  • Jack Holman – It’s a pleasure dealing with Maddy.  He is happy that he just learned how to correctly spell her name.
  • Gerd – As the VP, Maddy is stuck with him. He had a good time running the luncheon meetings on her behalf.

Basil, the Master Roaster, took the floor to pitch in his comments….
“Maddy is charming, Yes, but where is Maddy? She came from a different League, the IVY League. In her absence at the weekly meeting, she still continues to be involved with the other presidential responsibilities. The problem is not ”giving her time”, it’s  “being on time”. A watch may be a more appropriate memento than the gavel.
Maddy thanked everyone for their comments and handed over a hefty cheque to Jack.

THANK YOU MADAME PRESIDENT  FOR YOUR SERVICE
