Toast to the Queen, Canada and Rotary: Led by President Danny
 
Attendance: 18, there were no guests.
 
 
 
 
In the absence of the scheduled speaker, President Danny carried on with the remaining agenda.
 
Announcements:
President Danny: He will investigate Club Runner emails to members, as some received emails and some don’t.
 
David Seemungal attended the Zoom meeting of the Toronto Rotary club on the St. Vincent’s volcano. He reported they were having issues with ashes on the Leeward side of the island and the Windward side was heavily damaged. Rotary clubs raised approximately $42K.
 
Arthur indicated that Saifoo informed him to share with the club that Asialicious Carnival will be held on Sept 10-12. Our club will have a booth and distribute brochures.
 
Arthur also announced that the Park Clean-up is postponed to sometime in September according to Cynthia Lai.
 
Gordon:   Next Wednesday is social network night. He is looking to arrange a real “Pub Night” Gordon will send out an invite.  Please respond "yes" or "no" to the invite to book spaces.
 
 
Sgt at arms:  David Seemungal asked members to share their happy events of the week.
 
  • President Danny:   He is very happy to spend the day with their two granddaughters.   He is disappointed that he will not be going to Scotland since Canada in on the “No Entry” list.
  •  
  • Peter:   He received a letter from Service Canada to inform him that as he is of the age of 75 and over, he gets a lumpsum payment of $500 from OAS.
  •  
  • Frank:   He is a big fan of the Olympic games and he enjoyed the venues, atmospheres, passion of the participants and what humans can do with their bodies. It was the best Olympic games he watched.
  •  
  • Suresh: He is very happy and excited of their first trip out of Toronto to Niagara Falls for a couple of days.
  •  
  • Gordon:   He is happy all his friends and families are healthy. Not so happy as we are coming to the end of the summer.
  •  
  • Gerd:   For the last two years he was trying to go to England as he is a member of the Mayfair club in London. He found out he will not have to quarantine there as he will be spending 10 days prior in Germany during the Christmas holidays since Germany is in England’s “green list”.
  •  
  • Alan:   He also got a lumpsum payment from Service Canada which is a taxable benefit. He is not pleased that while golfing, his broke the shaft on his golf driver. Unfortunately, due to the Pandemic, Golf Town could not help him.
  •  
  • Arthur:   The family will be spending this Christmas in Deerhurst instead of the Caribbean due to the Pandemic.
  •  
  • Mike:   His thoughts on the Olympic – Congratulations to the ladies of the soccer team on winning the gold. They did a great job representing our country.
  •  
  • Courtney:  He is very happy that Rising Sun Food Drive filed their first T3010 and through Maddy’s effort, they received a donation of 8 skids of KIND bars.
  •  
  • Dave:   He is happy to see his daughter in Calgary.
  •  
  • Basil: As Dorothy had a sleepover, he raided the “swear” jar and had some fun shopping for a vacuum cleaner.
  •  
  • Trudy:   Happy for life and hope all is keeping well.
  •  
  • Mandy:   Very happy that she carved out 10 days of her busy schedule to go to Africa where she will be enjoying some real African dishes.

  • Maddy:   Thank Past President for his mail

  • David:   Happy that the Palliative Care Society in Trinidad received the 7 oxygen concentrators on time. A video to come soon.
 
 
In closing, President Danny indicated that he will be doing the cancer ride in a couple of weeks. He has an appointment with his cardiologist in a weeks' time "Safety first". He is happy to raise the money and our club has been a great help over the years.
