Speaker # 1:

John Ramdeen discussed considerations for holding another fall Gala event

· SCRO is opting out of participating; they don’t need as much extra funding + involved with Scarborough Walk of Fame as their signature event

· Suggested we do as a Rotary only event, and he offered to be actively involved in helping us if we decide to hold again

· He crunched some numbers; felt we need to sell 110 tickets (last year’s total was 74) @ $125 per with a projected net profit of $14k

· Ticket revenue covers the hard cost and sponsorships, silent auction, 50/50draw generate the net revenue to the club.

· The importance of starting early, with each member selling 10 tickets.

· The board will need to decide on proceeding.

Danny spoke on the Rotary Foundation

· It started in 1907 with Public Comfort Stations in Chicago

· The foundation has transferred over $3 billion from gifts into service projects, with over 90% of the donations spent on the projects.

· There are four pools of funds

1. Endowment Fund

2. Annual Fund

3. Polio Plus Fund

4. Additional funds

· Grants are made globally and, in the club’s own district

· The goal is for donations from every Rotarian every year

· Donations receive recognition, with many different levels based on the size of the gift for Individual and Club donations.
