Speaker:John Ramdeen, Topic: Rotary Club of North Scarborough, Gala Event, 2026
John was introduced by Dave Hardy
This week's speaker was John Ramdeen, Treasurer of the Scarborough Community Renewal Organization (SCRO) and a lead planner working alongside the Rotary Club of North Scarborough in organizing the Club's annual Fundraising Gala, which will be held on October 16—slightly earlier than last year's successful event.
Speaker Notes:
John acknowledged the dedicated Gala planning team, which includes Gordon, Danny, and Dave, and noted that the idea for the Gala originated from a Rotary Club of North Scarborough fireside meeting. He reflected on the success of last year's inaugural event, highlighting the many positive outcomes while identifying opportunities to make this year's Gala even better.
Members were reminded that the evening will feature entertainment, complimentary parking, an excellent menu, a cash bar, and the presentation of Paul Harris Fellowship Awards, promising an enjoyable and meaningful experience for all attendees.
John provided an overview of the key fundraising components that will contribute to the Gala's success, including sponsorships, auctions, donations, door prizes, and ticket sales. He encouraged all members to actively support the planning efforts by approaching local businesses for donations of products, services, or gift certificates that can be used as auction items or door prizes.
He also outlined the Gala's sponsorship opportunities, explaining the various partnership levels—Gold, Silver, Bronze, and Community—and emphasized the importance of securing sponsors to maximize the event's impact and support the Club's initiatives.
The presentation served as both an informative update and a call to action, reminding members that the Gala's success depends on the collective efforts of the entire Club. With careful planning already well underway, members were encouraged to promote the event, seek sponsorships, secure donations, and support ticket sales as the Club works toward another outstanding and successful fundraising Gala.
