Dave Hardy introduced our guest speaker. Elizabeth Buller President and CEO of the Scarborough Health Network (SHN)

Elizabeth has been with SHN since 2017 Some highlights from her presentation were:
3,700 Covid Patients were treated. 21% in ICU. 445,000 tests completed. 748,000 vaccines were given. 82% of Scarborough residents are fully vaccinated. There are only 17 patients in hospital with Covid today and about 5 in ICU. There are four strategic directions: (i) build culture to empower and inspire people, (ii) improve population health, health equity, and system integration, (iii) transform the patient experience through innovation, education, and research, (iv) set a new standard for exceptional quality and patient safety. They have been able to increase virtual care such as follow-ups after surgery and mental health consultations. In their planning, they want to improve the quality of care and standardize patient experience across all sites. Address increasing demand for their services. SHN has submitted a plan to the Ministry of Health for future facilities to take them 20 years and beyond. Elizabeth also mentioned the ‘Love Scarborough’ campaign with a goal of fundraising $100m.

Sergeant at Arms:

  • Rocco was happy that Canada had qualified for the World Cup, but not happy that Italy hadn’t
  • Danny was also happy that Canada had qualified. He had watched at BMO Field and got cold doing so. He was also happy that his grandson had caught Covid at daycare and ‘gave it to the rest of the family, but they are now all ‘okay’.
  • Dave was pleased that his brother-in-law was home after being 4½ months in hospital.
  • Arthur was pleased that his daughter had no side effects from her first round of chemotherapy.
  • Peter was happy that his ‘health monitoring’ was being successful.
  • Barry donated $100 being happy that he received the Ruby Paul Harris.
  • Ruth was happy that Danny had brought her out on a date!
  • Basil was happy that he had met Arthur’s sister in Cancun. He commented that she was a very smart lady and that her IQ was probably higher than Arthur’s.
  • Alan was happy that he and Cheryl were able to have a meal with Basil and Dorothy in Cancun. Alan made a curry which Dorothy “really loved”.
  • Gordon donated $4 representing the 4 goals that Canada scored against Jamaica to ensure their qualification to the World Cup.

President Danny then closed the meeting.
