 Gordon's farewell speech.

I want to thank you all for your support during the year, because, of course, it is the members of a club that keep the club going, and you have all been magnificent in doing that. A particular thank you to all the directors for their support.
As of today, we have 27 active members and 3 honorary members (Kevin Manuel, Donna Salamalay and Charles Whitney).  We welcomed 1 new member – Saira Haq. We have a membership application from Tom Boyko who many of you have met and he is the son of our former member Jim Boyko who passed away about 4 years ago. Tom will be inducted next month. Unfortunately, our long-time member Peter Masson passed away this past New Years Eve and is sorely missed. Peter was very active in the club and was the organiser of the Paul Harris S

Unfortunately, our long-time member Peter Masson passed away this past New Years Eve and is sorely missed. Peter was very active in the club and was the organiser of the Paul Harris Scholarships for many years. As I am sure everyone agrees we need to increase our membership.
We did some of our annual projects such as warm hands and supported the community in monetary and other ways, as well as some international projects. Together with some of the other Scarborough Clubs we gave out $25,000 (5 at $5,000) to Paul Harris Scholarship recipients.
As you all know we held a Fall Gala last October as a new fundraiser. This was done in partnership with SCRO – Scarborough Renewal Organisation. For various reasons SCRO did not want to do it this year. With John Ramdeen’s help we are doing it ourselves this year. We need to sell 110 tickets at $125 each and we are hoping to get $13,500 in sponsorships. If everything goes according to plan, we should raise $14,000 +. We need every member to help with this in selling tickets and getting sponsorships. It is being held on Friday October 17th at Centennial College (same as last year).
Thank you once again for all your support and I am sure Danny will have lots of ideas which we will hear about next week. I wish him good luck (not that he needs it). I am also sure you will be giving him the fantastic support you gave me this last year.
My final quote of the week for you from Milton Berle. My doctor told me that jogging would add years to me life. I think he was right I feel ten years older already.
