Fund Raising Committee Report: President Danny

Fundraising Committee: David Seemungal, Suresh Agarwal, Danny Cassidy.
Just as we are getting back as much as possible to in-person meetings, we need to get back to fundraising.
Thank you to our business sponsors and club members for their help since the TV auction's demise due to COVID restrictions.

During the meeting, It was suggested:

1.
Bulletin Sponsors.
  • An increase in sponsors for our Website, Bulletin, and Social media would provide a steady income stream.
  • At $200.00 per sponsor; If all members brought in one sponsor, that would create $6,000.00 in revenue annually. Even if half of the members participated, that would still be $3,000.00 yearly.
  • This would require member participation and effort.
  • (Immediately after today's meeting, Dave added Hardy Stevenson and Associates to the sponsor pool.)
2
Loblaws gift cards.

It was suggested that we investigate purchasing Gift cards at a discount and selling them at full price. Loblaws was given as an example.  Danny has since contacted Loblaws, and the club has been accepted into its non-profit program.  They will be contacting us.

Note:   Business donors brought to us by Gerd and donations from other members through business or privately have given us an excellent resume of giving locally and abroad.  This helps us tremendously when approaching other corporate donors.
  • We have applied for nonprofit status with Google, Microsoft, and Loblaws.

3.
It was suggested that groups who ask us for donations should help fundraising by advertising an event or helping with logistics.

4.
Love Scarborough Campaign run by SHN at the moment.

Danny met with Ryan Baillie of SHN foundation last week.
We talked about—advertising, technical, and resource support.
They asked about the tv auction. We do not at the moment have our usual phone site due to COVID, and we have lost the technical expertise we have had in the past. They suggested that they have contacts with the government and Rogers, and they have Technical expertise available. This, of course, would be a Rotary / SHN endeavor.  More to be discussed on this.

SHN is looking into helping with a fundraising campaign at Christmas.
  • Christmas Tree of remembrance at Scarborough Town Center.
  • Again they can advertise and provide P.O.S. equipment.

5.
We will continue educating on "Tax reduction and estate tax elimination."

6.
We will look into any opportunities we may have with the popularity of food trucks and Ribfests.

After the presentation, these suggestions were discussed, and comments were made regarding dealing with large entities like SHN. These reservations will be addressed in the next committee and board meetings.
Avrum suggested a golf tournament and will get us information from those he knows who do this. Thanks, Avrum.

Sergeant at Arms:      Frank Happy Bucks

Danny.  Happy that he survived the meeting because he left his notes at home. Visiting with all four grandkids this weekend

Frank's Team advanced and is doing very well despite losing last week. Also his sister Susan is visiting him at the moment.

Gerd, while on vacation, was spending the day at the beach swimming. The water is shallow, so you can walk out quite a distance before it goes over your head. After swimming, they went to a bar, and Gerd discovered he had left his money clip with his credit card in the hotel. Quite embarrassing. Dorothy talked to the manager and settled everything. Just then, he got an email from a stranger saying that he had found Gerd's clip way out in the water. Gerds email was on it, so that was the reason he could contact him.  Very lucky!

After four years working up north and driving every day, Manny finally works near home.

Courtney paid up for past happy bucks and suggested that we all see the movie Scarborough in Scarborough Town Center.

Peter is happy to get applications in now for the Paul Harris awards.

Avrum is happy to be back at the meetings now in person.

David S. Is happy to be back at in-person meetings when he can.

President Danny thanked everyone for coming, wished everyone a good week ahead, and ended the meeting.
