Introduction of inductee: Barry, President Danny, Tom and Basil presided over the induction of new member, Raj Katyal.
Barry mentioned he has known Raj since childhood and that he believes that Raj has all the qualities that would make him an excellent Rotarian.
President Danny did an overview of the mission of Rotary and the role of Rotary in the world and in communities. He emphasized the Rotary creed “Service Above Self”, and made reference to privileges and obligations that accompany membership.
Tom articulated the four (4) objects of Rotary, and Basil spoke about the four-way test – is it the truth, is it fair to all concerned, will it build goodwill and better friendships and will it be beneficial to all concerned. Thereafter, Basil presented Raj with a Rotary package inclusive of a Certificate of Merit and a Rotary pin.
Inductee, Raj Katyal: Raj thanked Barry for supporting his membership application and the board for approving his membership application. He went on to share a bit about himself inclusive of the fact that he works as a lawyer and hails from a family of lawyers.
Raj has his own law firm where he works on real estate matters, wills, estate and probate. Beyond his professional designation, Raj enjoys playing tennis and is a supporter of the Toronto Blue Jays.
Through Rotary, he is looking forward to giving back to the community.
Announcements:
President Danny announced that the furnace auction is currently live and will remain live and accessible until April 30. He also announced an upcoming board of directors meeting scheduled for Monday, April 27.
Basil acknowledged the respective and separate anniversaries of Dhanni Ramdeen and Danny Cassidy. He went on to announce the date for this year’s District Assembly (May 23) and upcoming Paul Harris Awards ceremony (May 28).
Sargeant at Arms: Tom Boyko
Tom served as Sgt. of Arms, and rather than administer fines he opted to focus on celebratory matters via Happy Bucks.
President Danny was happy to celebrate 50 years of marriage
Alan was happy he had the opportunity to visit a Rotary club while in Mexico
Basil made a contribution
Suresh was happy to be at the meeting
Barry was happy that Raj was able to become a member of the club
Arthur and Frank were just plain happy
Tom was happy he was able to celebrate his mom’s 81st birthday
Courtney was happy he was able to attend Councillor Myers’ leadership award ceremony
There being no further business for the good of Rotary, Danny closed the meeting.
