He is organizing a Rotary Team to participate in the Princess Margaret Ride To Conquer Cancer and contacting other clubs.
Sergeant at Arms: SAA Avrum collected lots of happy bucks from a happy crowd.
Guest Speaker:
Barry introduced our Guest Speaker, John Ramdeen, who gave a very informative update on our successful October 18th gala, held in partnership with SCRO. Preliminary results indicate that our club will receive $12,849 from the Gala, including the $7,500 sponsorship from Park Property Management Inc. The Scarborough Community Renewal Organization (SCRO) will receive $5,349.
John’s PowerPoint presentation showed Sponsorships of $16,000, Donations of $1,925, Ticket Sales of $15,518, and 50/50 draw revenue of $630, for a Total Revenue of $34,073.
Total Expenses were $15,875, with a Net Surplus of $18,198.
John then reviewed with our club things that worked well and areas that could be improved upon. There was generally a lot of good feedback, which shows Rotary in a very positive light. The next steps will include our club’s Board of Directors deciding whether to go ahead with another Fall Gala next year, as recommended by the Gala committee.
Membership: Our Membership Chair, Avrum, gave a brief update on his plans for bringing in new members and for retention. Avrum suggested having a special “ bring a guest day” once a quarter, having some Rotary swag to distribute, and creating a personalized invitation for local business owners.
Avrum will contact the District’s Membership Chair, Joan Barrett, regarding upcoming membership meetings.
President Gordon closed the meeting with nothing further for the good of Rotary.
