  1.        August is Membership Month, and time to promote the club and cultivate new recruits amongst our family, friends and associates in the spirit of augmenting peace and understanding.
  2.        Donations collected at Rotary of Scarborough Ribfest:
    1.        Monies raised in the neighbourhood of $46,000.00
    2.       North Scarborough share of ¼ of 40% =$4,600.00

Highlights of presentation:
  1.        Statistics – 355,000-700,00 Canadians struggle with some level of ARND (Alcohol Related Neuro-Developmental disorder)
  2.        Costs in range of $1.3 - 2.3 billion dollars annually in Canada, to include:
    1.        Comprehensive healthcare costs
    2.       Justice system costs
    3.        Childcare costs
    4.       Supportive housing
    5.       Loss in productivity in job costs
    6.         Incarceration costs
    7.        Personal anguish of families that cannot be quantified but are very real.
 
  1.        Approximately $2 million per capita of unbudgeted costs" that need to be addressed by all levels of government as this is a pandemic issue for the nation.
  2.        Proclamation by Mayor John Tory (attached) stating September 9 as FASD Day in Toronto.
    1.        To be held at Yonge and Dundas (Dundas Square) at 8:30am
    2.       1st FASD day in 1999 is now acknowledged in 65 countries around the world.
